You’ve got a magic tree: what does it grow?

Posted on

I love this idea for a post!

A magic tree, imagine the possibilities!! You could have it grow gold! Rare jewels! Everlasting gobstoppers!

Well, maybe not everlasting gobstoppers.

The tree I have in mind grows tall and strong. Imagine an oak, standing on top of a hill, offering shade to those around it. My tree would grow leaves of pure silver and produce golden acorns. However, the gift of the tree would not be wealth, but knowledge.

Each leaf when picked, would offer wisdom…anything from a new language, to playing an instrument. Each acorn would offer qualities, such as courage, optimism and determination.

The tree, being magic, would ensure its gifts were never used destructively. In fact any attempt to use the knowledge in such a way would result in the loss of your new found abilities. The tree would also acknowledge greed, automatically limiting the skills and qualities on offer depending on the person in front of it. Everyone is different, therefore some are more deserving than others and the tree would recognise this.

Imagine a world where there was a way to overcome crippling shyness. Where Doctors could unlock the mysteries behind cancers. Psychological illnesses could be cured and language barriers demolished. With a non human power in charge there would be no manipulation, no one would be able to use this magic for their own gain at the detriment of others. There would be no financial cost and if humans began to be lazy because everything they ever needed was just a leaf away, they could be bestowed with industrious qualities such as a love of learning!

I fear my imagination is running away from me, so I shall leave it there.
If anyone offers me any magic acorns I’ll let you know!

What would your magic tree grow?

  1. What a wonderful idea! I love this idea a lot. It’s not unheard of for the powers that be to control greed, for example, in Charmed if you use your powers for personal gain, there are supernatural consequences.

I love your imagination, it’s fantastic!!! Can I have something to cure all of what I consider to be my flaws please? 😀
