Twitter Blogathon Day 11 – Pride Comes Before A Fall…

An interesting fact about my title phrase is that it is actually a misquote. The original proverb is actually ‘Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall’. You learn something new every day!

However the theme for todays blog is not just ‘pride’ but something Katy, Fiona and myself have done today (or recently) to make us feel proud of ourselves.

Tuuuune!

But what pride worthy things have I done? My mind immediately searches for examples of good deeds (I think using my river cleaning story again would be stretching it) or achievements (Katy suggested writing about going running, or giving up chocolate) and comes up blank. There are certainly things I am happy with at the moment, but anything that really shouts as being worthy of ‘pride’? *thinks really hard* Nope, nothing!

Perhaps to me pride is an emotion bestowed upon others. Someone can be proud of me, but I am very rarely proud of myself. I find it very easy to show pride in my friends and family. In the past few weeks I have heard of people going outside of their comfort zones, getting new jobs, standing up for themselves, controlling their tempers and achieving goals. They (I wonder if they realise who I am talking about) have surprised themselves and others and I am very proud of them (always an odd thing that, telling a peer or especially someone older than you that you are ‘proud’ of them…does anyone else find this?).

But what have I done today to make me feel pride? Nothing! Or else I just have writers block. One of the two!
